Instructor Professor Overview

Instructor Professor serves as the music educator at Beverly Shores Elementary School in Leesburg, Florida, and is also an Adjunct Professor of Music at Lake-Sumter State College. With over 25 years of experience, he has immersed himself in the Brazilian cultural art forms of Capoeira Regional and Capoeira Angola.

In 2017, Instructor Professor innovatively began to integrate the elements of capoeira into his elementary music curriculum. By utilizing the musical and movement components inherent in this martial art, he effectively teaches music theory, performance skills, and multicultural awareness to his students. This unique approach not only enriches their musical education but also fosters an appreciation for diverse cultural practices.

In 2020, he established the Lake County Capoeira Academy, furthering his commitment to capoeira and its educational potential.

Instructor Professor holds a Bachelor of Music Education (BME) from Florida State University and a Master's Degree in Music Education from the University of Florida. He has actively contributed to the professional community by presenting clinics at prestigious events such as the National Music Educators Association Annual Conference, Florida Music Educators’ Association Annual State Conference, the Illinois Music Educators' Conference, the FMEA Multi-Cultural Summer Workshop, and the FMEA Summer Music Institute, focusing on topics such as capoeira and steel drums in the educational setting.

Furthermore, Instructor Professor is certified as a professional educator in Music K-12 and Special Education, demonstrating his dedication to providing a comprehensive and inclusive educational experience for all students.
